Landscaping

Yards that drain right, grow right and hold up season after season.

Overview

Landscaping

Most landscaping problems are drainage problems wearing a costume. Grass will not hold on a slope that sheds water, mulch washes into the driveway every storm, and the low corner of the yard stays soft into July. Planting over that only buys a season.

Southern Solutions starts underneath. Grade gets corrected, water gets somewhere to go, and then the planting, sod and beds go in on ground that will actually support them.

Our Approach

How we handle landscaping

1

Water first, plants second

Grade and drainage are corrected before anything is planted, so the work does not undo itself in the first heavy rain.

2

Equipment already on site

Skid steer and excavator mean serious regrading is not a separate contractor and a separate mobilisation fee.

3

Built for the climate

Plant and turf selection accounts for heat, humidity and how the site actually drains.

Questions

Landscaping FAQs

Can you fix a yard that holds water after every rain?

Usually, yes. Standing water is normally a grade issue, a compaction issue, or a downspout dumping in the wrong place. We walk the site during or shortly after a rain if possible, find where the water is going, and correct the grade or install drainage to move it off.

Sod or seed — which should I choose?

Sod gives you an instant, established lawn and holds on slopes immediately, at higher cost. Seed is cheaper and works well on flat, prepped ground if you can water it and wait through establishment. We will tell you honestly which one the site calls for.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance or just installation?

Both. Some customers want a one-time install; others want the property kept up on a regular schedule. Recurring maintenance can be arranged after the initial work is complete.

How long before new sod can be walked on?

Keep traffic light for the first two to three weeks while roots knit into the soil, and keep it watered daily through that window. We hand over a simple watering schedule when the job is finished.
